Women’s Day Celebrations Turned Out to Be an Inspirational Day

Today March 8th, 2025, our Holy Cross Lake View family proudly joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day. This significant occasion recognizes the extraordinary contributions, achievements, and sacrifices made by women around the world.

The day’s festivities began with a Eucharistic celebration led by our Headteacher, Fr. Prosper Atukwatse, C.S.C., and co-celebrated by Fr. Emmanuel Agaba, C.S.C. In his uplifting homily, Fr. Agaba encouraged everyone to celebrate the women who have positively influenced their lives and to pray for those suffering worldwide, wishing them strength and perseverance.

Following the mass, the celebration continued with a vibrant procession featuring both teaching and non-teaching staff dressed in traditional attire that showcased a variety of cultures. They marched proudly to an upbeat melody, reflecting the diversity and richness of their heritage.

Mr. Balikowa Augustine, representing the Senior Man, delivered an inspiring speech, while students showcased their talents through captivating dance and song performances, highlighting the school’s commitment to nurturing talent. The Laudato Si Club also contributed with a thought-provoking speech and poem underscoring the importance of caring for our environment.

Rev. Prosper Atukwatse, C.S.C., our Headteacher, leading the Holy Mass.

Madam Oyella Jenifer, the Senior Woman, addressed the theme “Accelerating Action for Gender Equality,” urging students to feel valued and respected in the school community, regardless of gender. She emphasized that everyone deserves equality and respect, expressing gratitude to the school administrators for their efforts in honoring the women of the institution.

The Guest of Honor, Ms. Nakitimbo Florence, an alumnus of the school, inspired the students with her personal journey of determination and hard work. Coming from humble beginnings, she now works at the Bank of Uganda Mukono branch. She encouraged the students to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their aspirations, reinforcing that they too can achieve great things.

The event wrapped up with a closing prayer, followed by a delightful lunch. Holy Cross Lake View Senior Secondary School honors and appreciates the invaluable contributions of all women connected to the school, celebrating their strength and dignity. This celebration empowers both girls and boys in the school community to believe in themselves and strive for excellence.

Happy Women’s Day!
Education for Service.
