Where we come from
Our legacy
A Holy Cross school, born from a parish community that believed in education.
Holy Cross Lake View traces its roots to the Congregation of Holy Cross, founded in France by Blessed Basil Moreau. Holy Cross came to Uganda in 1958, and our school opened on 23 February 1993 on Wanyange Hill in Jinja, with fifty-one students.
From those humble beginnings we have grown into one of Uganda’s respected secondary schools, while staying true to our motto: Per Scientiam Ad Serviendum, Education for Service.
The mind shall not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.

Educators in the faith
Our teachers
Our teachers are experienced and skilled at meeting each student’s way of learning. Following the Holy Cross charism of Educators in the Faith, they nurture both the mind and the heart.
Lessons and assignments are designed to engage. A 1:25 teacher to student ratio lets teachers know each student personally, offering attention and mentorship that reaches beyond the classroom.
Learning for the future
Science and technology
We are building Holy Cross Lake View into a centre for science in Uganda. Our eight well-stocked science laboratories can each hold up to 100 students, and the national offices of the Association of Biology Educators are based on our campus.
Computer laboratories and ICT across the curriculum give students the digital skills they need, while the competence-based curriculum lets them design and build real projects.
