Africa’s future lies in science and innovation, and at Holy Cross Lake View S.S.S., we are committed to becoming a hub for scientific excellence. In pursuit of this vision, our A’ Level science students were privileged to participate in a transformative Science Fare and Career Guidance Session at Busitema University on March 26, 2024.
A group of 63 enthusiastic science students, accompanied by a team of dedicated staff members, embarked on the journey to Busitema University on a serene morning. Arriving at 10:00 a.m., we were greeted warmly by the university community. The lush campus, adorned with towering trees and lively monkeys swinging from branch to branch, provided a picturesque backdrop that instantly set a welcoming and inspiring tone.
The event, held in the university’s conference hall, featured captivating exhibitions in fields such as Engineering, Agriculture, and Biological Sciences. These showcases not only amazed our learners but also broadened their understanding of scientific concepts. The innovative projects on display ignited curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, leaving a profound impact on everyone present.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Paul Waako, Vice Chancellor of Busitema University, delivered an inspiring keynote address. He emphasized the importance of effective time management both at school and at home, encouraging students to harness their time wisely to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Dr. Lilian Gumuguni Nabasa, the Academic Registrar, followed with an insightful career guidance session. Her advice demystified career pathways and empowered students with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures. Her words resonated deeply, providing clarity and confidence to learners contemplating their career trajectories.
The highlight of the day was a guided tour of the university, during which our students explored various departments and lecture rooms. Excitement and wonder were palpable as they imagined themselves as future scholars of this prestigious institution, known for its focus on science, technology, and innovation.
Beyond academic exposure, the trip provided a unique opportunity for students to interact with their peers and professionals across different fields of study. These interactions were instrumental in helping them envision a future of limitless possibilities.
This experience was both significant and transformative, leaving our students motivated and inspired to pursue their aspirations with renewed vigor.
